I did play a little myself, for two villages where my family lived and then in Culverhay School staff v boys matches at a time when that was allowed (I was young and reasonably fit).
My first visits to Twerton Park were when I brought our eldest to see Rovers, in their last year here I gave T.P. a miss the following year. Then I thought to give the City a try and have been a regular ever since. I am armchair Spurs supporter, but there is nothing like non-league football.
Of course, one soon becomes a season ticket holder, and a Supporters Club member. Quickly, there were the days when cash was needed and I joined the Society.
Being a mathematician, I have always been asked to do accounts and it was not long before the Society had that vacancy. A few years down the road I became Chairman as well. I hope I was able to guide the Society through one difficult patch.
Fortunately, there have been more able personnel to take over both those roles since that time.
During this period, I was a regular user of the Bas coach, which provided great company.
The away trips stopped during our time in the National League, when long journeys meant deserting Heather from early morning to late on those Saturdays (she loves having 3 or so hours or so to herself when I am at T. P. now).
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the match.
